Global Network on Extremism and Technology - How Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being utilised by extremists
AI is something that is becoming an increasingly present part of our every day lives, and I'm sure to nobody's surprise it is being utilised by those with more nefarious ideas. Examples of this include:
• Mass disinformation campaigns
• Feeding pieces of radicalising propaganda (online)
• Gathering information on potential targets
• Finding instructions to support terrorist attacks
• Malware
• Creating memes and propaganda for mass sharing
This technology is advancing at pace with much focus on the positives of AI, however we need to be aware of how it might be used to radicalise.
